The Strada del Ponale connects Riva del Garda and the Valle di Ledro. Originally built in the second half of the 19th century, it was replaced by a modern tunnel only 20 years ago. Since 2004 it has been closed to traffic and limited to cyclists and hikers. Thanks to its position and architecture, the old Strada del Ponale is one of the most beautiful historical panoramic roads in Europe.
We start our hiking tour in the centre of the village Riva del Garda and hike along the shores of the lake, passing the old hydropower station. After about 1 km we cross the Gardesana road and follow the signpost D01 towards Ledro. Soon we reach the wonderful panoramic trail carved into the rocks and leading through small tunnels.
After further two km of steady and gentle gradient the trail turns right and we look down to the beautiful bay at the entrance of the Valle di Ledro. Here, the road divides into a bicycle track and a hiking trail. We cross a bridge before we hike up some steps to reach a forest road. From here, we continue our tour into the Valle di Ledro. After a short asphalted section (Pregasina road) we pass the village Biacesa. Crossing the village Pre di Ledro we hike upwards towards Molina di Ledro and finally reach Lake Ledro with its very interesting pile-dwelling museum.
From Cervano you can see a majestic mountain called Monte Castello.
If you like trekking, in 2 h you can arrive on the top and see the beautiful panorama of Toscolano and the south of lake Garda, the trail is sunny and shadowed, full of amazing flowers, easy in the first part, at the end it becomes more difficult but not impossible and, when you arrive on the top, you’ll have fun to find Cervano!
If you want to have a shorter version you can start from Navazzo, is about 50 minutes
The path signal is 21

Situated in front of Cervano , close to the hills on the western side of lake Garda, Golf Bogliaco lies in a basin at an altitude of 100 metres, covered with oleander, laurel, cypresses, olive trees and other plants typical of Mediterranean vegetation. The raised position gives a splendid view over almost the full length of the lake and the mountains which surround it. The decidedly mild climate offers the possibility of playing all year round.

Special Place for your Special Occasions…
Poet, soldier, hypochondriac and proto-Fascist, Gabriele d’Annunzio (1863–1938) defies easy definition, and so does his estate. Bombastic, extravagant and unsettling, it’s home to every architectural and decorative excess imaginable and the decor helps shed light on the man. In the 1920s d’Annunzio became a strong supporter of Fascism and Mussolini, while his affairs with wealthy women were legendary.
The amphitheatre is the first major structure one comes across after entering the estate and was clearly based upon classic models, the architect Maroni even visiting Pompeii for inspiration. Its location, like the other buildings of the Vittoriale undeniably offers a majestic view of the Garda lake, it is still used for performances today (Patty Smith, The National, Buena vista social club)

The Risotto is one of my favorite plates and this is the most common ways of cooking rice in Italy. Is usually a primo (first course), served on its own before the main course, but risotto alla milanese, pronounced [ɾiˈzɔtːo alːa milaˈneːze], is often served together with ossobuco alla milanese. This is a special recipe by our friend Chef Teo, a classic Risotto alla milanese with mushroom…delicius!!! Ingredients:
- A shallot, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons of Cervanos’s extravergin olive oil
- 200 g mushroom
- 300 g rice, for example Arborio or Carnaroli
- A packet of saffron
- A glass of white wine
- 2 tablespoons of minced parsley
- Salt & pepper to taste
Time: 10 min preparation, 16-18 min cooking
– Put mushrooms in a pan with oil, garlic and parsley
– Sauté the shallot in the oil with salt (will prevent burns it)
– When it has wilted and become golden, add the rise
– Mix and when it’s toasted put the white wine with the fire high
– Add a ladle of the broth
– Add mushrooms
– Cook for 16-18 minutes with fire medium
– Stirring and adding broth as the rice absorbs it
– Shortly before the rice reaches the “al dente” stage, stir in the saffron mixture
– When it does stir in the remaining butter, the cheese, and the parsley with no fire
Vinitaly, the most important international exhibition dedicated to the world of wine and spirits, returns to Verona from Sunday 6 to Wednesday 9 April 2014.
Vinitaly, is the event that more than any other has traced the evolution of the national and international wine system, helping to make wine one of the most captivating and dynamic realities in the primary sector.
With over 140,000 expected visitors and more than 4,100 exhibitors during the four days of the event, the traffic and parking system around the exhibition centre are organised and regulated to minimise disruption and maximise the time available for sector professionals.
Veronafiere: Viale del Lavoro 8 is only a 4-minute drive from the Verona Sud exit on the A4 “Serenissima” Motorway, about 4 minutes from Porta Nuova Railway Station and just 1.9 kilometres from Verona city centre.
During Vinitaly, the San Zeno and Cangrande gates in Viale del Lavoro are also joined by the Re Teodorico Gate, while the Giulietta & Romeo Gate in Viale dell’Industria near the junction with Via Roveggia is also operative. This is the recommended entrance gate for visitors arriving from the Verona Sud Motorway exit and the Tangenziale Sud (South Ring Road) going to the Multi-Storey Car Park (P4) and the Re Teodorico car Park (P7), which are both in Viale Olanda. This entrance gate is also suggested for arrivals by taxi.
During Vinitaly, the Exhibition Centre is open to visitors 9.30-18.30.
Shuttle bus service inside the Exhibition Centre
The Exhibition Centre itself offers a service connecting the halls with ten stops, operated by two electric minibuses 9.00-19.30.
HOW TO REACH US
From the A4 “Serenissima” Motorway (Turin-Milan-Brescia-Verona-Venice-Udine-Trieste): the closest exit to the Exhibition Centre is Verona Sud, although arrivals from Milan are recommended to use the Verona Nord exit.
From the A22 “Brennero” motorway (Modena-Verona-Trento-Bolzano-Bressanone-Vipiteno): the Verona Nord exit is recommended for arrivals from Brennero and Modena alike (A22), with car parking at the Stadium or the Centro Agroalimentare, with a free shuttle bus service to/from the Exhibition Centre.
Porta Nuova Railway Station is served by a free shuttle bus service to/from the Exhibition Centre, departing from Pavement A approximately every 15 minutes 8.30-20.00.
This year welcomes the initiative named “Get to Vinitaly fast with Trenitalia”: purchase a Vinitaly entrance ticket on-line and send the voucher to the Trenitalia Group Offices taking part in the promotion to receive a discount on the round trip to Verona (outward 4-9 April, return 6-10 April 2014). More information about the offering is available in the Visitors Area of the Vinitaly website.
